Our Story
We are a family owned and operated business, started by Tom Harris. Our dream started when we first moved into Huron, and fell in love with the Huron river. Over the next decade we worked in and around the area learning of all the wonderful history, wildlife, and folklore of this region. We love living here, and wanted to share our love of this wonderful city and its river with everyone.
The business name came from an old local folklore tale about a lake monster. The lake monster has been given several names over the years, “Bessie”, “Lemmy” , and has even been referenced as “The knock-off Nessie”. Whatever name you choose to call it, the lake monster is a part of our area’s history. Our first boat was named the “Huron River Monster” as a celebration of that history.
Tom grew up on the waters of Lake Erie, and has always loved being on the water. From an early age (8) he was learning how to sail and swim. As he grew up, Tom started a concrete business. His love for the water and being on it never went away, and through the years he has owned and operated his own boats. Today he does what he has always loved, and that is captaining boats and entertaining others.
